Activity:  Representing Landforms

Question: How do models, maps, and aerial photographs represent landforms?

Vocabulary: canyon, valley, meander, tributary, model, map, aerial photographs

Materials:
computers connected to the internet

Procedure:

 1. Have students use any of the following web sites to look at landforms:

• http://3dparks.wr.usgs.gov
• http://www.terraserver.com
• http://googleearth.com
• http://www.earthfromspace.si.edu

 2. Discuss the following landforms: canyons, valleys, meanders, tributaries, deltas, flood plains and what forces of nature may have caused them.
